When a transferee owns a home in the Netherlands, he needs to decide what to do with it once his assignment is ending and he will be leaving the Netherlands. Will he sell or hang on to the home? It will have tax consequences, whatever he decides.

Should he want to keep the home – he will probably rent it out or keep it available for own use during home leaves. Either way, someone will have to keep an eye out for the property and act as the representative of the owner. That is us!

It could be that the employer, in order to keep his work force mobile, will buy the home from the transferee. In that case the employer needs someone to independently assess the current market value of the home, arrange the buy and sale of the home within 6 months to avoid transfer tax. Again, that is us!
